A best-barrel selection, the 2016 Shadrach Cabernet Sauvignon includes only valley fruit. Matured in 40% new French hogsheads for 15 months and bottled after two years and then held in bottle until release, it's dramatically floral and leafy on the nose, admirably accenting the cassis fruit. The medium to full-bodied palate is concentrated and intense but restrained and elegant, moving into a long, refined finish that hints at mint and pencil shavings. While it will benefit from short-term cellaring, it should drink well for 15 years or more.---Wine Advocate
